The Mexican organisation Casa de la Amistad for Children with Cancer, is a Private Assistance Institution that is committed to raising the survival rate of low-income children suffering from cancer. The organisation provides free support to children suffering from cancer and their families raising awareness about early detection of symptoms of childhood cancer and the importance of fidelity to the treatment. The relevance of educational, emotional, nutritional and material support is pivotal for avoiding the abandonment of treatment. The organisation also provides training for medical staff and nurses and promotes access to reliable health assistance and treatment.
To carry on their activities the organisation launched a call for donations in order to keep assisting many families of children with cancer. With the outbreak of the pandemic, many health systems, particularly in low and middle-income countries, became overwhelmed and the resources available for people fighting cancer even more scarce.
