Saving Lives of Children with Free and Safer Health Care in the Philippines

Mercy in Action is a Non- Governmental Organization in the Philippines, established in 1991 to support and provide proper healthcare for pregnant women, supporting and saving the lives of newborn babies and children. The organization gives free services to poor families in the country and conducts outreach programs to save and heal many patients in the community most especially those who cannot afford them. Because of the COVID -19 pandemic, the Philippines was greatly affected, poor families became even poorer. Pregnant women and children are among the populations the most affected in the country. Mercy in Action initiates a program that offers health care and guidance for pregnant women. The out-of-hospital birthing facility provided by the organization, reduced the number of patients in those local hospitals and also protected the health of newborn babies and mothers from the overwhelming spread of the COVID-19 infection. In addition, the organization gives free food, transportation, services, charges, and PPEs to their local staff. These programs help thousands of Filipino women, newborns, and children in the region.
