Solidarity Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic

The Nonprofit Organization Caravane de Solidarité was established in August 2015 by two migrant activists Silvana Mastronmatteo and Charlemagne Hernandez. Soon after, many partners joined them to build the association in addressing issues of the growing refugee crisis in Europe and they decided to collect, transport, and distribute foods, cloth, and other necessary assistance. In April 2020 at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, Caravane de Solidarité was one of those organizations that started focusing on helping workers, unemployed, students and homeless despite the health situation. This initiative led to the distribution of thousands of bags of food and also financial assistance to migrants who lost their jobs such as people working in the entertainment field, hotels, restaurants but also nannies, students,. In addition to the distribution of free meals, they had developed a partnership with several restaurateurs in difficulty because of the COVID-19 pandemic. All activities and programs are supported by volunteers and funded by private donors and if you wish to support them, please consult their Facebook page, Caravane de Solidarité – Genève.
