The Sylvia Bongo Ondimba Foundation to Help the Gabonese During Pandemic

As in many countries, the pandemic has affected negatively the f Gabonese population, especially those with lower income. To alleviate this situation the Sylvia Bongo Ondimba Foundation has created a project to distribute food parcels, hydroalcoholic gels and protective masks.

The initiative named Solidarity project Covid-19 aims to provide support to impoverished populations, impacted by the socio-economic consequences during the outbreak by improving their financial strength. The initiative comprises i) raising the awareness on the effect of the coronavirus disease among vulnerable people ii) providing food parcels to disadvantaged groups during the outbreak iii) helping the community members to protect themselves effectively against the virus.

Since 2020, the initiative has helped 9 providences within the country, in which 10 thousand grocery vouchers of 25 000 FCFA, 10 thousand vouchers of 20 000 FCFA of alcoholic gel and 13000 food parcels were distributed by the Gabonese Red Cross, religious representations, and partnered associations. The overall operating cost budget reached 572 million Central African Francs.
