The Egyptian organisation Shamseya founded in 2012 promotes innovative community-based healthcare solutions, working to empower the patient with knowledge and the right tools, helping them to deal with healthcare costs and empowered to understand how to navigate and improve their healthcare system. During the outbreak of the pandemic the organisation created a COVID-19 response to guide citizens to make informed decisions, and stay safe during the current healthcare crisis.
They created the website salametna.com through which, anyone going to a public space, can assess the places based on safety and infection control indicators aligned with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and the local Ministry of Health measures. Thus, they are helping the users to make informed safe decision when choosing a place to go.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisation adapted the Shamseya’s El Nase7 project, which usually offers a phone assistance service (through WhatsApp or via phone calls) that helps Egyptian families to navigate through the bureaucracy of healthcare services The service is currently being used to also support the COVID-19 response by guiding concerned citizens through the healthcare system to claim the services they need the most in such a pressuring time. They can reach out to El Nase7 and get the guidance they need without leaving their homes.
The organisation also designed a guide, in Arabic, in preparation of the Holy month of Ramadan to be of guidance for citizens to have a safe and healthy Ramadan. You can download the brochure from this link.
