Since the outbreak of the pandemic, many countries have been struggling with hunger and food insecurity. To tackle the striking plunge of hunger, violence, and malnutrition the Brazilian organization Gastromotiva has been creating local jobs and teaching nutrition education to unprivileged communities. The organization also provides courses of free culinary, and social entrepreneurship training for impoverished populations, focusing on sustainable cooking in which students direct more than 90 meals for homeless Brazilians daily.
Furthermore, Gastromotiva launched in March 2020 a Solidarity Kitchen Program meant to prepare meals for people in need in the local communities which at present counts on 51 Solidarity kitchens in Brazil and Mexico. The program alleviates hunger by providing 70,000 meals per month for low-income communities. For all its efforts, Gastromotiva has earned more than 23 awards for fighting food insecurity in Brazil and Latin America.
