The event sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, regarding the thematic of Feminism during the pandemic analyzed how the diverse women and Latin American LGBTQ+ communities have faced perpetuated key issues in these two years of the outbreak, much of them worsen by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The virtual event brought two Anthropologists and counted with simultaneous translation in Spanish. The panelist Ph.D. in Social Anthropology Carmen Díaz Alba is a specialist in Gender studies and Latin American studies, with a focus on transnational feminism, intersectionality and social movements in Latin America. And feminist panelist Ph.D. in Anthropology and Latin American Studies Anthropology Marisa Ruiz Trejo specialized in ethnic studies at the University of New York and Berkeley.
The event, from the University of Texas at San Antonio, is part of the Women’s History Month; a programmed month-long weekly event ranging from discussions, screening, social media and presentations organized for over a decade and a half to spread women’s empowerment and self-knowledge.
