The Organisation Aid for Social Protection Program Foundation Vietnam (AFV) Launches the Initiative “Meals of Hope”, to Offer Decent Food for People Affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic in Vietnam
Even after an initial success in controlling the pandemic, the country is being seriously affected by the new wave of the pandemic, especially by the new variants, and so far COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the lives of millions of people. People are losing their jobs and unable to earn income to support themselves and their families, making it more difficult for people – particularly children and elders – to have access to decent food on daily basis.
To help and assist people in need during these difficult times, the initiative Meals of Hope – Decent Food for those needed due to COVID-19 aims to support people in need with one month worth of food and nutrition needs particularly in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, and Ho Chi Minh City. The kits will provide 15 days of meals for more than 6.300 people in 1,500 affected households. The boxes include basic nutritious food items for o a total of 94,500 meals. The size and composition of the food boxes are tailored to local preferences, demographic profiles, and existing level of malnutrition and diseases.
