Sudan without Corona Initiative
The “Sudan without Corona” initiative began with a limited group of young people in Sudan, which initially relied on donations from a group of members to purchase raw materials and manufacture masks and sterilizers locally.
The initiative focuses on aspects related to raising awareness of and prevention of COVID-19, including holding a direct conversation with citizens while distributing medical tools to them.
The initiative has contributed to the distribution of thousands of locally manufactured masks and sterilizers. Its reach has been expanded to the countryside as well.
Young people move in a car equipped with a microphone and sound system at night, using songs and poetry to raise awareness in local languages in order to convey messages that cover a broader area of social strata in a country like Sudan, which is home to many languages and nationalities. Other actions of this initiative include distributing information posters at vital places and gathering points, such as the entrances to mosques, cafes and markets and videos on how to make a mask and about sterilizers.
