The Movimento de Luta nos Bairros, Vilas e Favelas (MLB) is a Brazilian initiative that encourages hundreds of homeless and low-income families across the country to fight for the human right to live in dignity. Most low-income families in the country are headed by informal workers and, therefore, will be the first to suffer the economic consequences of the quarantine set in place to contain the spread of the disease.

During the pandemic, MLB is organizing a fundraising campaign called “Solidarity Network”, that operates in several states. All proceeds are used to purchase food parcels and hygiene supplies for impoverished families and informal workers catered by the initiative.
