Organisation Helps Underprivileged Kids to Develop Digital Skills and to Have Access to Online Classes During the Pandemic

The TFL-US is a public charity organisation established in 2010 and carries out fundraising activities in the United States to support the work of Teach for Lebanon (TFL), which is a non-governmental organization registered in Lebanon.

The organisation is raising funds to ensure that dispossessed students in Lebanon have the opportunity to develop digital skills in order to have access to quality education. The pandemic outbreak forced schools to close and adapt to online classes, which poses a huge difficulty for the local students as many of them have no means or skills to keep up with online learning. When the money is raised, the programs offered by the organisation will help to equip labs for students to do their homework, research, and project-based learning. In addition, the funding supported the purchase of laptops and TFL-US loaned them to students on a semi-permanent basis so they can attend online classes from home due to the ongoing restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those devices will have short and long-term benefits: they will allow students to access the education they need now; and this education will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to ensure a better future for themselves and for Lebanon.
