The Organisation “Music For Life Africa Foundation” is Raising Funds to Buy Radios to Support Learning Through the COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda
The organisation Music For Life Africa Foundation (MULIA) promotes the talents and develops the skills of Uganda’s vulnerable youth in a community built around music, dance, drama, and mentorship. Their focus is on helping children who may be orphaned, disabled, homeless, HIV positive, and/or unable to attend school. MULIA is an independent organization sustaining itself through the sale of instruments built by MULIA’S youth and through paid performances and events hosted by families, communities, schools, governments, and other non-governmental organizations.
The organisation is currently raising funds on the platform Global Giving to provide 100 solar radios to 100 families in Bbanda Bugendedala community (Uganda) to allow rural children to have access to teachers on FM radios to avoid the effects of COVID-19 that were experienced during the first lockdown in 2020. Children will be able to listen at home classes for various levels taught on the radio. Solar radios don’t need batteries or electricity for tuning in which is an important advantage as many families cannot afford electricity costs. The organisation is not only seeking a way to continue the learning among vulnerable children till the time they will go back to school. This is al also imparts the value of sustainable energy.
