Give2Asia Supports Local Nonprofits Through Donations
In the devastating aftermath of the second COVID-19 wave in India from April to May 2021, rural areas took the hardest hit. The Centre for Science and Environment (https://www.cseindia.org/) reported 53% of new cases and 52% of deaths in May 2021 in rural districts. Give2Asia is an international nonprofit organisation based in San Francisco, United States that acts as a strategic partner and ally working in more than 23 Asia-Pacific countries.
The organisation strengthens local organisations’ work through philanthropic donations from individuals, family foundations, and corporations. Based on the belief that “local knowledge counts” in the COVID-19 crisis, Give2Asia partners with more than 20 local nonprofit organisations in India—including Goonj, Seeds, Society for Nutrition—that are supporting frontline workers and vulnerable communities. The programs supported by Give2Asia encompass a wide range of activities that alleviate the pandemic, including promoting disease prevention and vaccination, providing medical supplies to frontline workers and equipment to professional healthcare centers, giving food to marginalized families, etc.
More than 90% of donations for Give2Asia go directly to their local nonprofit partners. A small portion of donation pays for credit card fees and grant management to ensure that donor funds are used effectively.
