THE NETWORK “CORONAVIRUS MAKERS” IN SPAIN MOBILIZE EFFORTS TO PRODUCE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

The citizens in Spain have responded to an urgent call for more medical equipment. A network called the “Coronavirus Makers” engages more than 15,000 people throughout Spain, to produce medical equipment by using 3D printing technology. The virtual community has come together to help combat the COVID-19 crisis by producing acetate visors, masks and prototypes of assisted respirators with their 3D printers. With the validated prototype drawings, these makers can manufacture a complete visor in just over three hours. In total, they have managed to produce some 350,000 visors using more than nine tons of material.
