ARCAH Initiatives is Caring for the Homeless Population in São Paulo
ARCAH (Associação de Resgate à Cidadania por Amor à Humanidade – Citizenship Rescue Association for the Love of Humanity) is an NGO, based in São Paulo, Brazil. The organization promotes the reintegration of homeless people into society, and its work focuses on proposing public policies to combat the homelessness issue in Brazil.
ARCAH works closely with different shelters in São Paulo and offers training to destitute people on permaculture and agroecology, psychological treatment, guided tours to museums and galleries, and often organizes events in the shelters where people are encouraged to share their experiences and to take part in sports activities and artistic performances.
During the pandemic, they have set up a fundraising campaign to buy hygiene supplies and masks for the approximately 12,000 homeless people living in the shelters they are partnered with.
