A CITIZEN SOLIDARITY NETWORK IN ITALY HELPS PEOPLE WITH DELIVERY OF GROCERIES AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The initiative helps people in need, especially migrants, unemployed and other marginalised communities, during the pandemic. The solidarity movement is being promoted by a network of grassroots organisations active in the North-Est of Rome, under the name ‘Terzo a Domicilio.’ They support more than 300 families, who are having difficulty paying for their own food or medicines. A specialised support service is also available, for those who need to fill out papers, undergo bureaucratic procedures or any kind of institutional request during the closure of public offices. This service is run by lawyers and other professionals on a voluntary basis. In addition to this, there is also psychological support provided by qualified volunteers. All these services are provided on a free access basis for people in need.
